With our regional projections completed & games coming up this weekend, here’s a look at an updated set of Medium/Small Schools State Rankings. Newbury Park has already clinched a No. 1 finish for medium. The new No. 1 for small schools is Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia. The CIF itself made Rio Hondo’s move to the top possible. Wilcox and Twelve Bridges move up to No. 3 and No. 4 for medium while Hughson is up to No. 2 for small.

(All based on section by section playoff formats, updated computer rankings, plus combination of enrollment and traditional placement into state rankings that we have done for 45 plus years.)
(These rankings do not change when a team qualifies for a higher section playoff division.)
(The next rankings according to this format will be after the CIF state championships are played on Dec. 13-14.)
(There also will be final five divisional state rankings done after the season so that we continue to have an archive of them going back to the early 1980s.)
