State Super 70: No. 1 to No. 10

Amon-Ra St. Brown was one of many explosive players on Mater Dei’s 2017 team that someday could even move to No. 1 in these rankings and is now No. 2. Amon-Ra is now one of the top receivers in the NFL. Photo: Terry Jack/SoCalSidelines.com.

We have no new state rankings this week, but here’s the final top 10 teams in our updated version of our look at the greatest football teams in state history. We will have regular State TOP 50 rankings returning next week perhaps just a little later than usual. At the top, it still has to be a De La Salle team and it’s still the one for 2001. Mater Dei of 2017 has now been elevated to No. 2. Others in this top group include Rialto Eisenhower of 1993, Vallejo of 1954 and San Jose Bellarmine for 1965. We also have added our list of 40 more great teams from state history to this post that just missed being in the Super 70.

Note:All of the writeups, grid logs, photos and more for all of these teams are for our Gold Club members only. We are now offering Gold Club signups for just $12.99 for three months or $4.99 for one month. If you’ve thought about joining, just going through this attempt at ranking the greatest football teams in state history may be worth it just by itself. For details, CLICK HERE.
