State Stat Stars & Record Updates

Wonder if the players from Downey High (on the left) and Millikan of Long Beach meeting before their game last Friday had a clue that one of them was going to score 68 points and lose? Photo: Rasheed Riveroll Castillo / the562.org.

There’s another crazy shootout game to get started with, this time it’s a 69-68 win for Downey High against Millikan of Long Beach. We have all of the state record updates already placed in our files. Go inside as well to see which two teams now have the longest current win streaks, which team now has the longest current losing streak (with a hearty congrats to the Ygnacio Valley of Concord team that snapped its streak last week), which coach won his 200th game and details on a 478-yard, 6-TD passing game plus a 377-yard rushing game.

One week after there was a 58-55 score that earned the losing team a spot in the all-time state records, there was a high-scoring back-and-forth contest between Downey and Millikan of Long Beach that was even more wacky.
