This feature serves as our statewide collection of milestone achievements in California high school sports. More than lists and numbers, we can provide historical context since we’ve maintained state records in California for more than 40 years. For baseball this week, player of the year candidates T.P. Wentworth (Modesto Central Catholic) and Boston Bateman (Camarillo) are both pitching & hitting at elite levels. We also have our first 50 RBI player for the season. For softball, we have several players written up from a wild-and-wacky 21-13 CIF Southern Section playoff game. We also say why some reported state stat leaders on MaxPreps are not acceptable for our state record lists.
