For the third consecutive week, there is a new No. 1 team in the latest boys basketball State Top 35 rankings. As we said last week, the Mission League teams weren’t 1-2-3 for long, but one of those teams is the new No. 1. Harvard-Westlake is also the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CIF Southern Section Open Division playoffs, which left out one of the three top Mission League teams. We break down the state’s toughest section playoff bracket, and why our rankings don’t come close to matching the seeds in the CIFSS open and D1 post-season brackets. The rest of the state, outside the L.A. City Section, still has one week left in the regular season.
