State Stat Stars of the Week

Joseph Brown (left) from Liberty Ranch of Galt rushed for 257 of the 610 yards that his team had in game last week. It takes 600 to go into the state record book. At right is QB Jacobo Elias from Vincent Memorial (Calexico), who went past 10,000 yards of total offense for his career last week. Photos: Liberty Ranch football / MaxPreps & Hudl.com.

This feature serves as our statewide collection of milestone achievements in California high school sports. More than lists and numbers, we can provide historical context since we’ve maintained state records in California for more than 40 years. For QBs, Ivan Levant from Fairfax (Los Angeles) will land in the top 10 all-time for 616 yards passing vs Panorama and we have another one now with more than 10,000 yards total offense. For RBs, Herschel Turner Jr. from Mt. Diablo of Concord gains 2023 regular season state rushing lead and sets CIF North Coast Section record. We also have a DB with a 108-yard pick six and a team with 610 yards rushing.
