One of the things that always seems difficult in choosing a preseason team is finding offensive linemen, but in a bit of a twist from most years the Preseason CIF Central Coast Section has a load of them. In fact, as the old expression goes, “they’re coming out of our ears.” In another bit of a twist,
and in these days of transfers, Archbishop Riordan of San Francisco lands two wide receivers; the twist is only one wore the Crusaders’ uniform last season. Defending CIF Central Coast Section D1 and CIF Northern Regional Open Division representatvie Serra of San Mateo lands eight on the First Team, dominates Multi-Purpose with four selections, and also gets four Second Team selections.
Note: These preseason all-section or all-area teams are done in the same 30-player format as the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. They are based on a combination of what the players did last spring and college recruiting. Transfers may not be included if not reported yet, haven’t played for a new school yet, or info on a transfer from previous school isn’t available. Not every all-section team will have writeups of every player. Some will have an intro, then lists.
