After our Preseason State TOP 50 team rankings and all athletes of the year for 2022-23 are done, we’re back to this annual tour of the state through preseason all-area or all-section football teams. This one also includes the CIF Oakland Section to go with all of the schools in the East Bay region of the CIF North Coast Section. Despite the fact De La Salle of Concord has seven players on the first team and five on the second team as usual to lead everyone, this will be the first time in recent memory the Spartans won’t have anyone on the offensive line. San Ramon Valley checks in with six first team selections but none on the second team.
Note: These preseason all-section or all-area teams are done in the same 30-player format as the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. They are based on a combination of what the players did last spring and college recruiting. Transfers may not be included if not reported yet, haven’t played for a new school yet, or info on a transfer from previous school isn’t available. Not every all-section team will have writeups of every player. Some will have an intro, then lists.
