The NCAA instituted the June Scholastic Live Period for high school basketball in 2019 and for the first time ever there will be a live period event sanctioned through the CIF and NFHS. Boys California Live ‘23 for high school basketball will be held June 16-18, 2023 at high schools in Orange County off the 55 corridor. A separate girls event, Girls California Live ‘23, will be held June 15-17 at the Roebbelen Center in Roseville.

For the first time ever, the Southern California Basketball Coaches Association (SCIBCA), with the support of both the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) is hosting Boys California Live ’23. The inaugural event takes place June 16-18, 2023 during one of the NCAA’s two June Scholastic Live Periods.
Boys California Live ’23 will be held in Orange County at multiple high school facilities within a short driving distance of each other, including Irvine, Tustin, Beckman (Irvine), Estancia (Costa Mesa) and Woodbridge (Irvine). The co-directors of the inaugural boys event in California are Chris Nordstrom of St. Margaret’s (San Juan Capistrano) and Matt Dunn (St. John Bosco, California).
The event is limited to high school teams from California that are full CIF members and is intended to showcase teams with a Division I college prospect. There is an application process for CIF teams to be selected for this prestigious event.

Boys California Live ‘23 provides a platform for high school student-athletes to demonstrate their talent in front of NCAA Men’s basketball coaches in a scholastic setting with their high school teams. For the first time ever, CIF programs, both boys and girls, will be able to participate in an event sanctioned and hosted in California. During the past four years, many of the CIF’s top programs have traveled to Arizona for Section 7, an event sanctioned through the Arizona Basketball Coaches Association (ABCA). This year Section 7 will take place June 23-25 during the second June Scholastic Live Period at State Farm Arena in Glendale, Ariz.
Girls California Live ‘23, hosted by the Bay Area Coaches Association, will be held June 15-17, 2023 at the Roebbelen Center in Roseville.
SCIBCA is a professional organization founded for all basketball coaches in the CIF Southern Section, the largest of the 10 CIF sections. The mission of SCIBCA is to promote and uphold the integrity of high school basketball; to inform, educate and serve its members; and to function as liaison between local, state and national governing bodies and member coaches.
