Boys BB: Final ’22 Player Rankings

We continue our boys basketball coverage for Gold Club members with a final look at the state’s top college prospects in the senior (2022) class. Our final 2022 Cal-Hi Sports Hot 100 shows many changes and seven newcomers. This will be the final position for these players since we first saw many of them as rising ninth-graders and some even earlier than that. Our final 2021-22 rankings for the 2023, 2024 and 2025 classes will be published by the end of the week.

The final 2022 Cal-Hi Sports Hot 100 is based on evaluations since our last published Hot 100 updates in January of 2022. That encompasses all CIF play since Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and includes the 2021-22 CIF section and regional playoffs, spring leagues and any grassroots evaluations thereafter.

During the first recruiting cycle affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, (2019-20 cycle), we did not publish winter rankings updates and only did two updates (post-summer, final). For 2020-21 we only did one set of final rankings, as there wasn’t a NCAA live summer period in 2020 and only a fragmented 2021 CIF spring season. For the 2021-22 cycle, we did two updates over the course of the calendar year. Going forward, there may not be a need to do three updates in a cycle as we did before the pandemic.
