The rest of the state will be joining the CIF Southern Section as playoffs begin this week for the other nine sections. Speaking of the Southern Section, first round play in the Open Division didn’t produce any upsets but the two Pool A games were closer than expected. This week’s two newcomers are Oak Ridge of El Dorado Hills and St. Joseph of Santa Maria. Oak Ridge’s win over Folsom also helped a number of teams to gain one spot in the new rankings.
