State Stat Stars of the Week

One of those from girls hoops in the state out to a strong start is Fullerton Troy’s Jada Wynn (shown at left when she was at former school). At right is blazing WR Jamai East making one of several big plays for Vanden (Fairfield) during CIF Sac-Joaquin Section D4 final. This feature serves as our statewide collection of milestone achievements in California high school sports and is now in its 13th week as part of the 2021-22 school year. Boys and girls basketball players are now included along with football for the second time. In football, we have several players featured, including Evan Peaker from Independence of Bakersfield, who shined in all sorts of ways in leading teams to section titles. In girls hoops, we show why Corona Centennial’s Londynn Jones can be Ms. Basketball for this season even if her team isn’t No. 1 in the state at the end. And for boys, Giovanni Goree from Viewpoint of Calabasas has a week to remember.
