Stop No. 11 (with just one more to go) takes us to the San Jose area, Monterey Bay area and up the Peninsula to San Francisco. Serra of San Mateo leads the way with four first team selections and two on the second team followed by Valley Christian (San Jose) and Menlo-Atherton with three first team and one second team honoree.
Note: These preseason all-section or all-area teams are done in the same 30-player format as the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. They are based on a combination of what the players did last spring and college recruiting. Transfers may not be included if not reported yet, haven’t played for a new school yet, or info on a transfer from previous school isn’t available. Not every all-section team will have writeups of every player. Some will have an intro, then lists.

With such a short season that had a maximum of six games with some teams only playing three or four times, and with no playoffs and very few all-league teams, choosing a preseason team for the CIF Central Coast Section required a lot of digging, and we relied partially on some of the local media’s postseason honor squads.
It also meant that we talked to a lot of coaches but not just about their players, but for a consensus on some of the new faces emerging on the scene. In the end and after all was said and done, we feel we came up with as best a representation of an All Central Coast Section Football Team as possible under the circumstances.
Note: Players from teams in the CIF San Francisco Section/Academic Athletic Association would normally be considered for the Preseason Central Coast Section Team but they did not play a spring season. We’ll still look for S.F. Section players for all of our regular weekly features (players of week, state stat stars, etc.).
