This is how our top 100 ranked football recruits from California for the Class of 2022 stack up as the 2021 fall season is coming up fast. This is the third breakdown of the class under very difficult circumstances due to the pandemic. Not much has changed for the top 18 or 19 positions since the last ranking, but there are bushels of newcomers down below. Those that had strong 2021 spring seasons, even though it wasn’t close to the usual number of games, were rewarded for their hard work by major D1 college offers.

The top placements in the Cal-Hi Sports Hot 100 player rankings are based on a consensus of what the rankings look like according to 247Sports, Rivals.com & ESPN. Much of the rankings are not based on personal evaluations but on reported offers to the various players. For those who were ranked previously and had to drop, we just didn’t find reported offers through Google searches and Twitter pages. It’s obviously a fluid situation and there are many players who go on to become better NFL prospects down the road who were not in any Hot 100 rankings of any kind in high school.

For all three of the times that this class has been ranked, Santa Ana Mater Dei defensive back Domani Jackson has been at the top and his margin over No. 2 Tetairoa McMillan from Servite of Anaheim seems to be increasing. He’s now the No. 1 prospect for the class from the state in all three major national player rankings and McMillan is not just right behind him in any of them.
