Once again, there is an abundance of California high school players getting ready for this year’s Major League Baseball Draft. There likely isn’t going to be a No. 1 choice like there was for 2014, 2015 and 2017, but there could once again be three or four gone in the first round. We go over the top 20 possibilities with writeups plus list 20 more to watch.

Note: This is a feature about current high school players and does not include those from California who’ve gone on to college who appear to be headed toward the top of this year’s MLB Draft. The best of that group may be Arizona State third baseman Spencer Torkelson, a former all-state player from Casa Grande (Petaluma). This year’s draft is slated for a future date in July and will not be held at the usual time of early June due to Coronavirus pandemic.
