Now that the 41st annual All-State Football Team is in the books, we take a deeper dive into the Cal-Hi Sports All-Decade teams we published in recent weeks and that we’ve built, realistically, over the past 15 years. We take note of a few things that jumped out at us while creating each team and talk about some of the toughest choices we had to make and review the biggest trends and biggest stories from each decade, beginning in the 1950s. See which Mr. Football State Players of the Year from the past probably wouldn’t be able to be selected now going by the criteria that has evolved over the years.

It’s hard to believe over 12 years have passed since our last edition of the Cal-Hi Sports Record Book and Almanac was published and distributed, when we were part of ESPN. We were able to produce a 352-page book (our seventh edition) with help from sponsors such as POWERBAR and we remember how much work it took in early 2009.
