Class of 2020 FB: Flowe To Top

Upland linebacker Justin Flowe will start the 2019 high school football season in California regarded as the state’s No. 1 college prospect. That’s because of his No. 1, No. 1 and No. 2 placements according to player rankings by the three major recruiting networks. He’s also now on top of the Cal-Hi Sports Hot 100 player rankings for the class. We wouldn’t necessarily disagree — and we’ve watched the state’s top players for 40 years — but some of the networks did seem to punish St. John Bosco’s D.J. Uigalelei perhaps too much for one bad outing. Another feature of this look at the Class of 2020 is the huge numbers of players from Narbonne of Harbor City. Based on this research, the Gauchos may have as much talent as SoCal’s big two of Mater Dei and St. John Bosco. They would have to play and beat one of those two, however, to be really taken that seriously as a threat for the CIF SoCal Open Division. There are 30 new players ranked compare to the last deep dive we did for this class.

Note: We’ll also issue player rankings in football for the first time in July for the Class of 2021. Within the last three weeks, we also just updated all of our boys basketball player rankings for all classes with a final ranking for the Class of 2019.
