Sometimes, the stat star explosions are so crazy and threaten state records that we may bust one out and turn a blurb into a blog post. That happened this week with Woodland pitcher Cooper Hjerpe (see blog posts). There’s still many big-time outings to get spotlighted, including 17 more from baseball and 19 more from softball. In baseball, we have the MVP of the National High School Invitational, a player with three homers in one game that put him at 21 for his career and one of the top RBI single-game outings in CIF San Diego Section history. In softball, big-time junior Nicole May of Pleasanton Foothill is just about a guarantee to be featured every week and she is once again, but we also tell you about one girl who homered off of her. Prolific slugging from Cupertino’s Jocelyn Pino and Menifee Heritage’s Kaitlyn Orona have made it into this week’s honor roll as well.
