There were so many outstanding returning running backs that for this season we had to place four of them on offense with just one wide receiver, although there are those on defense and multi-purpose who can catch the ball as well. Schools with more than one player written up are Helix of La Mesa, Eastlake of Chula Vista, Cathedral Catholic, San Marcos, Monte Vista of Spring Valley and Carlsbad.

Note: These preseason all-section teams will be done in the same 30-player format as the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. In other words, has to be at least five offensive linemen, one to two receivers (may or may not be a tight end), two running backs, three defensive linemen, three linebackers and three defensive backs with a kicker, someone who is a proven punter and six multi-purpose players. They are based on a combination of what the players did last season and college recruiting. Not every all-section team will have writeups of every player. Some will have an intro, then lists.
