All-Time State Player Rankings (DBs)

Former San Francisco 49er Ronnie Lott, a graduate of Eisenhower High in Rialto, would be an easy choice as the greatest defensive back from a California high school. Some of the other slots in the top 20, however, weren’t so easy to choose. Photo: rialtonow.com.

Since spring football is now in full swing, here’s the final installment in this series that was begun last year with QBs, RBs and WRs and picked back up again recently with offensive linemen, defensive linemen and linebackers. We’ll do a short addition for TEs, PKs & punters soon. All of these lists will be included in the back of our upcoming book “High School Football in California” that should be out in time for the 2018 season. Like the linebackers, it wasn’t hard coming up with a No. 1 player. It has to be Rialto Eisenhower’s Ronnie Lott.

(Note: The following players from California high schools are all ranked in order based on their success after they’ve gone on to college and to the NFL.)
