These are the traditional five-division format state rankings that we used to do every week for many years before the CIF state football championships began in 2006. The divisions are based on a combination of league strength, enrollment and competitive equity. In this format, you just won’t see large-enrollment schools in Division 4 or Division 5. We did attempt to have all five State Team of the Year honors go to CIF state champions and succeeded. Congrats to Mater Dei (D1), Serra of San Mateo (D2), Bishop Diego (D3), McClymonds (D4) and Strathmore (D5).
