Serra of Gardena climbs six spots after beating Long Beach Poly but still has to stay behind Bishop Amat (head-to-head loss). Granite Bay gets a slight bump but we still have the Grizzlies behind St. Mary’s of Stockton. This week’s lone newcomer, meanwhile, is 9-1 Corona del Mar of Newport Beach.

26. (26) Bishop Amat (La Puente) 5-5
There’s no change for the Lancers in this week’s State Top 50 after their 57-33 loss to state No. 7 Chaminade. What helps their ranking is previous No. 8 Long Beach Poly losing 24-20 to a Gardena Serra squad that the Lancers beat earlier this season in a Mission League game. And in addition to Chaminade, Amat’s other in-state losses were to higher-ranked teams (Mater Dei, JSerra, Rancho Cucamonga). Blake Archuleta had a strong outing in defeat vs. the Eagles with 235 yards passing and three TDs. Kenny Collins also rushed for 133 yards and one TD. Amat probably won’t last long in the CIFSS D1 playoffs since it must play No. 2 St. John Bosco. A lot of those first-round CIFSS D1 losing teams, however, are going to be in the top 25 of the final State Top 50 not just in the top 50.
