Chaminade of West Hills is the new team at No. 6 this week as the top five seems locked for now. The rest of the top 10, however, is more fluid. We moved up Santa Margarita from No. 12 to No. 10 even though the Eagles lost last Friday. And there’s also movement down below, too. New No. 24 Central Catholic of Modesto was inserted into the top 25 right behind Oakdale, which is the team the unbeaten Raiders are playing in two weeks.

(After games of Saturday, Oct. 21)
1. (1) Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 8-0
Considering that JSerra of San Juan Capistrano also was 7-0 and had scored 50 points or more in its first two Trinity League outings, the Monarchs’ 45-3 win last Friday was about as complete a performance in all phases of the game that they’ve had. JSerra, which had risen to No. 6 in the state entering the game, also gave up two turnovers in the first half that ruined any chance for the upset. Junior QB JT Daniels passed for 224 yards and two TDs and ran for TDs of 20 and 8 yards to lead the offense. Amon-Ra St. Brown also ran back a punt for a score for the second straight week, this time one going for 89 yards. The Monarchs now have two teams left in the regular season who’ve already lost at least two Trinity League games, beginning with Friday’s game at home against state No. 21 Orange Lutheran.
