26. (37) Central (Fresno) 2-0
With defending CIF Central Section D1 champ Bakersfield (and previous No. 21 in state) losing big to Orem of Utah and not sure how good Orem is, we’ll move up the Grizzlies into the No. 1 slot for the section and give them a chance to defend it in a big matchup with Liberty of Bakersfield. Central also has an upcoming trip to Concord to play De La Salle. In last week’s 56-6 blowout of Fresno Sunnyside, junior QB Trent Tompkins hit on 11 of 22 passes for 200 yards and two TDs while senior Jevon Bigelow rushed 10 times for 124 yards and two scores. The Grizzlies are playing Liberty at home on Friday.
