Preseason All-San Fernando Valley

Two of the best from the San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys are DBs Steve McIntosh from Alemany (Mission Hills) and Mykael Wright of Valencia. McIntosh has older brother at Washington. Wright is one of several standout juniors on team that has won eight straight league titles. Photos: Twitter.com & Under The Radar Sports Media.

Statewide tour of each CIF section (SF & Oakland players to watch still to come) is complete with unveiling of preseason All-San Fernando Valley squad, which also includes the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valley areas. We put two of the region’s very best athletes — Devon Williams of Antelope Valley and Matthew Tago of Quartz Hill — on defense instead of multi-purpose. Chaminade leads the way with seven honorees. Paraclete is second with four.

Note: These preseason all-section teams will be done in the same 30-player format as the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. They are based on a combination of what the players did last season and college recruiting. Not every all-section team will have writeups of every player. Some will have an intro, then lists.

Just like the preseason All-San Gabriel Valley team released earlier this week, we have to begin with some explanations.

First, the All-San Fernando Valley squad is more than just that valley. It’s also those schools from the Santa Clarita Valley plus the Antelope Valley. We also consider Loyola (Los Angeles) players for this team since the Cubs are in the same league as other San Fernando Valley parochial schools and really don’t fit anywhere else.
