Compared to previous weeks, this was a somewhat quiet one for the state’s top softball teams. We did have to figure out what to do with Orange Lutheran as the Lancers had to drop from No. 3 after suffering a league loss to Mater Dei of Santa Ana. There also was the difficulty of choosing just one team from the bubble to go into the State Top 20 this week after all results came in. That choice went to San Benito of Hollister, which also means that this weekend’s NorCal Classic in Tracy will have five State Top 20 squads in the field.
