The SJS D1 playoff seedings went with Folsom at No. 1, but generally we don’t switch rankings to agree and still have St. Mary’s of Stockton at No. 1. The big mover as the regular season ends is Antelope, which is seeded third in the D2 playoffs behind only Sacramento and Del Oro and benefits from Oakdale’s big win over Central Catholic.

As a four-time defending champion, it’s hard to argue against Folsom being the No. 1 seed in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs and that’s where the Bulldogs will be when they begin their quest for five in a row Friday against Kennedy of Sacramento.

In the Cal-Hi Sports section rankings, we’ve had it St. Mary’s at No. 1 and Folsom at No. 2 for several weeks and despite the section seedings there’s no reason to change.
The biggest changes in this week’s rankings came in the aftermath of previous No. 6 Modesto Central Catholic getting flattened by Oakdale 34-21. The tricky part of the rankings is that Oakdale also has a loss to Manteca and Central Catholic has a win against Manteca. This prevented Manteca from being able to make a big jump and previous No. 7 Pitman of Turlock also lost to Turlock.
The big winner ended up being 10-0 Antelope. The Titans, who are now No. 7 in the section, rolled in their regular season finale with a 42-21 triumph over a Whitney of Rocklin team that had been near the top 10 earlier this season.
After looking at the scores Saturday morning, there was even some thought that Antelope might even get the No. 2 seed in the D2 section playoffs behind Sacramento. That didn’t happen, but the Titans are No. 3 and if they get to play No. 2 seed Del Oro in the semifinals would appear to be a serious threat.
