Last week on the latest FOX 40 Final Quarter high school football show of the 2016 season, hosts Jim Crandell and Kristina Werner revealed a list of the top five schools from the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section that have had the most players in the NFL, according to CalHiSports.com.
Here is what that countdown revealed:
(Based on number of players from each school who have been on an NFL roster)
1. Edison (Stockton) 17
This is also tied for first in Northern California, a credit to the many years 1965-1983 when the Vikings were led by head coach Charles Washington.
2. Vallejo 12
Former UOP and L.A. Rams’ Dick Bass is the most famous and is still a NorCal legend.
3. Grant (Sacramento) 11
Devontae Booker of the Broncos had some nice runs in last night’s game vs. the Chargers.
4. Cordova (Rancho Cordova) 9
The most well-known of the Lancers to have played in the NFL have been RB Gerald Willhite and QB Seneca Wallace.
5. Sacramento 8
Remember Jim Breech? Former Dragon kicked for the Cincinnati Bengals for 13 seasons.
Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be the top five Heisman Trophy vote-getters from current Sac-Joaquin Section schools.
