There are no changes in this week’s first 10 slots of the state rankings. Whether there are next week depends, of course, on what happens in massive showdown between No. 2 St. John Bosco and No. 3 Mater Dei on Friday.

(After games of Saturday, Oct. 15)
(Previous ranking in parentheses)
1. (1) Centennial (Corona) 6-1
As Bosco and Mater Dei are playing this week, remember that it’s the Huskies who’ve won the top division in the CIF Southern Section the last two years and have been the top team overall in the CIFSS three times in the last four years.
2. (2) St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 6-1
Waiting for a big game like St. John Bosco and Mater Dei has taken a lot of patience. It finally happens Friday at Cerritos College. The Braves won 23rd straight league game after dispatching Santa Margarita 47-10.
3. (3) Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 7-0
After 56-14 win vs. Orange Lutheran, Monarchs’ soph QB JT Daniels has 40 TD passes for the season with just two interceptions.
4. (4) Mission Viejo 8-0
The Diablos continue to show they’re closer to the top three than No. 5 and enter this week on 36-game winning streak.
5. (5) Narbonne (Harbor City) 7-0
Jalen Chapman threw for five TDs as Gauchos blitzed Carson 59-0. They were up 52-0 at halftime.
6. (6) Rancho Cucamonga 7-0
Possibility exists that Cougars will eventually move up to No. 5. Not yet, though.
7. (7) Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) 7-0
It should be one more rather easy game for the Dons until they get to play arch-rival St. Augustine, which was higher-ranked than them locally until it lost to Madison.
8. (8) De La Salle (Concord) 6-1
Spartans will be looking for second straight improving performance after 35-0 win vs. Pleasanton Foothill. They know this week’s foe, 6-1 California of San Ramon, has the capability of beating them.
9. (9) Serra (Gardena) 5-3
A 28-12 win over Bishop Amat closes out the Lancers from winning third straight Mission League title and sets it up for Serra to win the league crown this year.
10. (10) Murrieta Valley (Murrieta) 5-2
Maurice Bell had nine catches for 211 yards and three TDs in 42-0 romp past Temecula Chaparral.
