Last week on the second FOX 40 Final Quarter high school football show of the 2016 season, hosts Jim Crandell and Kristina Werner revealed a list of the top five quarterbacks from CIF Sac-Joaquin Section schools, according to CalHiSports.com.
Here is what that countdown revealed:
1. Stone Smartt (Del Oro) Sr.
His improvement down the stretch last season helped Del Oro win a CIF state title.
2. Jake Dunniway (St. Mary’s, Stockton) Sr.
Leader of one of the section’s top teams had 26 TD passes and only four interceptions as a junior.
3. Brett Neves (Downey, Modesto) Sr.
He passed for just under 3,000 yards last season and had 33 TD passes.
4. Joe Curry (Folsom) Sr.
If there were high school fantasy football leagues, the Folsom QB would be the first pick every time. It’s Joe’s turn now to be the Bulldogs’ leader.
5. Calvin Brownholtz (Jesuit) Jr.
He looked good in Jesuit’s win last week over Granite Bay and already has a D1 college offer.
Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be the top five running backs this season from the Sac-Joaquin Section. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite game of the week between St. Mary’s (Stockton) and Central Catholic (Modesto). Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
