We are now partnering with our local Stockton Record on several content initiatives (some in print and some on-line, including video). Here’s a recap of what’s been completed this week plus our choice for a local Football Team to Watch.

Playing the Nickname Game
With Calaveras of San Andreas and other schools having to ponder new nicknames in the wake of their own “Redskins” being banned as of Jan. 1, 2017, we are hoping these schools think with creativity. No more Eagles. For more, CLICK HERE.

Football Team To Watch
Ripon
It was a challenging preseason schedule for the Indians and despite losses to Patterson, Sonora and Lathrop it was successful since there also were wins over Sierra of Manteca and Sutter. The Sutter win was especially noteworthy since that team went 13-1 l last season and played in the CIF NorCal Division III state bowl game. With Jacob Duxbury rushing for 207 yards on 13 carries and catching six passes for 113 yards, Ripon won last week 52-35 over Hilmar. The game in two weeks vs. Escalon on Oct. 30 could be difficult, but if the Indians get through that one they’d probably set up a showdown for the Trans-Valley League title the following week vs. Hughson (currently unbeaten and just beat Escalon).

Hoping the Indians are looking forward to Escalon and Hughson.!
