Last week on the FOX 40 Final Quarter high school football show, co-hosts Jim Crandell and Kristina Werner revealed a list of the top five running backs in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section for the 2014 season, according to CalHiSports.com.
Here is what that countdown revealed with player, high school and notes:
1. Marcel Brown-Brooks (Rio Linda) Sr.
Definitely one of the top five running backs in the state.
2. Beau Bisharat (Jesuit) Jr.
A 6-3, 210-pounder who was MVP among the running backs at the NorCal Nike camp last spring.
3. Nate Jones (Tracy) Sr.
He is definitely the fastest player in the section since he was the 100-meter sprint champion last spring.
4. Jabar Byrd (Merced) Sr.
Rushed for 170 yards in opening-week loss to Clovis West and very impressive.
5. Montell Bland (Central Catholic) Soph.
Yes, he’s just a soph but sky’s the limit as we all saw when he shined in last year’s CIF D4 state final.
