It’s no shock that State Team of the Year Mission Viejo has two players on the 2014 Cal-Hi Sports all-state softball underclass team when those two players – pitcher Taylor McQuillin and infielder Alyssa Palomino – were the 2014 State Junior Player of the Year and 2013 State Sophomore Player of the Year.

Both of the standout Snow sisters – Tannon and Taylon – of Chino Hills also basically had to be on the first team as well. Taylon was the State Freshman Player of the Year after tying the CIF Southern Section record for most hits in a season with 72. Tannon batted .565 with 14 homers and 58 RBI.

Two from CIF L.A. City Section power Carson also gained nods to the first team. Brianna Tautalafua was a bit of a no-brainer since she led the state in reported home runs with 19 and is ranked among the nation’s top 20 college prospects in the Student Sports Hot 100 for the Class of 2015. The other Colt to gain a nod was sophomore slugger Aniesa Maulupe, who hit two homers in the L.A. City Section final.

Here are the 2014 Cal-Hi Sports All-State Softball Underclass Teams:

As a junior Sydney Romero of Vista Murrieta was named the Riverside Press-Enterprise Player of the Year. She batted .612 with 11 homers and some in the area think she might even be a better all-around hitter (but without the power) of older sister Sierra, the All-American at Michigan.
