Ricky Alvarado (Gilroy)
The senior running back for the Mustangs rushed for 247 yards on 19 carries with three TDs in a 48-19 win over Pajaro Valley of Watsonville.
Tyler Bakker (Hanford West, Hanford)
This quarterback had the biggest bite in last week’s Dog Bowl as he led Hanford West past Hanford 45-29. Bakker set a school record by passing for four touchdowns, ran for two touchdowns, made all six PATs, and kicked one field goal.
Jesse Brookins (Francis Parker, San Diego)
The senior standout shined on offense and defense when Parker beat Christian of El Cajon last week 24-20 in a game with major D4 South bowl implications. Brookins had 20 carries for 143 yards and one TD on offense and had six tackles and two sacks on defense.
Kado Brown (Rio Mesa, Oxnard)
From the quarterback position, Kado had a huge game running the ball as he rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in a 42-28 loss to Dos Pueblos of Goleta.
Marcel Brown (Rio Linda)
Despite Brown rushing for 228 yards and one score, it was on the losing end of a 16-14 contest against Center of Antelope.
Parker Campbell (Bakersfield)
The three-year kicker for the Drillers has set a new Central Section record for the most conversions made in a career, according to section historian Bob Barnett. Parker made all eight PAT attempts against Buchanan of Clovis in a 59-18 win and now has a total of 157 for his career. Campbell also kicked a 30-yard field goal.
Marquise Carter-Petit (Grant, Sacramento)
The Pacers have had a up and down season so far but this week it was an up as he rushed for 263 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 31-30 win over Del Oro of Loomis.
Nathan Cole (Aliso Niguel, Aliso Viejo)
It’s odd that a player could earn a listing in the state record book in a 84-22 loss by his team but that is the case for Cole. Forced to throw early and often in the lopsided loss to Mission Viejo, Cole still ended the night by completing 34 of his 56 pass attempts for 302 yards and three touchdowns.
Ian Davis (Nevada Union, Grass Valley)
Davis made six tackles on defense and caught 11 passes for 153 yards and one touchdown but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 43-19 loss to Elk Grove and fellow state stat star Robert Frazier.
Luis Dorame & Antjuan Farmer (Monroe, North Hills)
Dorame, a sophomore signal caller, led the Vikings to their first win of the season as he passed for 365 yards and five touchdowns in a 50-48 win vs. Chavez of San Fernando. Farmer not only rushed for a score but was the go-to guy in the passing game as he caught 11 passes for 291 yards and all five touchdowns.
Tanner Duran (Hughson)
Despite rushing for 209 yards and three touchdowns, Duran had to be a bit disappointed after his team’s game against Summerville of Tuolomne as the Huskies gave up the game-winning score with 10 seconds left in a 35-34 loss.
Noah Evans (Whittier Christian)
Evans caught a career-high 15 passes for 115 yards, but the Heralds lost to Salesian of Los Angeles 55-27.
Justin Ewing (Capuchino, San Bruno)
One week after rushing for 494 yards, the senior running back came back with 298 on 37 carries with five touchdowns, but this week his team lost 44-35 to visiting Burlingame. Ewing now has 1,173 yards in four games this season.
Anthony Feliciano (Tomales)
The 6-foot-1, 215 pound junior running back and defensive lineman, who is the son of longtime Braves’ coach Leon Feliciano, rushed for three TDs and had two sacks in a big win over St. Elizabeth’s of Oakland.
Latrell Flowers (St. Anthony, Long Beach)
Rushing for 212 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries, Flowers led the Saints past Brethren Christian of Huntington Beach 42-25.
Royce Freeman (Imperial)
A junior who was an all-state sophomore last year, Freeman piled up 310 yards rushing on 15 carries and scored three times when Imperial beat Mater Dei of Chula Vista 41-11. He is a 6-1, 220-pounder with speed to get to the corner.
Robert Frazier (Elk Grove)
The senior back thundered the ball down the field for the Thundering Herd in their 43-19 win over Nevada Union of Grass Valley. He rushed for 303 yards and three touchdowns in helping the team remain No. 1 in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section.
Jalen Harvey (El Cerrito)
Harvey was everywhere in a 54-0 rout of Dublin Valley Christian at Chabot College. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound junior defensive back and wide receiver scored on a 72-yard punt return and also had an interception and a fumble recovery.
Trayvon Hicks (Stuart Hall, San Francisco)
It was 8-man football, but 358 yards rushing and six TDs in a big win over Trinity Christian (Monterey) is still pretty impressive. Hicks also had three sacks on defense.
Joe Jeffers (Beaumont)
With a 43-41 win over Yucaipa, the Cougars improved to 4-1 as this talented junior rushed for 278 yards and three touchdowns on 38 carries.
DeShawn Johnson (Acalanes, Lafayette)
Johnson and his team had one of those very competitive losses to a strong team. In his case, he rushed for 237 yards and two TDs but his team came up short in a 40-39 loss to Campolindo of Moraga, last year’s CIF North Coast Section Division III champion.
Zack Johnson (Kimball, Tracy)
Zack was on the attack for the Jaguars in their 42-25 loss to Manteca. The senior rushed for 202 yards and one touchdown and passed for 180 yards and two scores.
Lee Jones (Sierra Vista, Baldwin Park)
Handed the ball 30 times in his team’s 43-20 over Workman of City of Industry, Jones piled up 362 yards and scored three touchdowns.
Marcus Jones (Mountain View)
The 5-foot-9 senior only had 10 touches but five of them went for touchdowns in a 55-8 rout of neighboring rival Los Altos. Four of Jones’ scores were on runs and the fifth was a 33-yard pass reception.
Nick Jordan (Arroyo, San Lorenzo)
The reported sacks leader for the North Coast Section had two against Oakland Tech of Oakland, plus he recovered a fumble and forced another in a 20-13 Dons’ victory.
Tyler Keil (Arcata)
The Tigers’ running back rushed for five touchdowns, all in the second half, during a 33-22 victory over host Del Norte of Crescent City. Keil’s scoring runs were 55, 7, 60, 42 and 56 yards. He also finished with 325 yards rushing, including 304 in the second half.
Trevon Lampley (Franklin, Elk Grove)
Doing a bit of everything in the Wildcats’ 28-7 win over Jesuit of Carmichael, Lampley rushed for two touchdowns and had a touchdown catch on offense while on defense he recovered a fumble and had an interception.
Tommy Ly (Westmont, Campbell)
He just makes the feature after rushing for an even 200 yards with two TDs in a 48-19 win over Prospect of Saratoga.
Steven Machado (Orestimba, Newman)
The Warriors are now 5-0 on the year after Machado ran for 317 yards and four touchdowns in a 44-14 win over Riverbank.
Conner Manning & Cody White & Dominic Collins (El Toro)
Putting up numbers that fantasy football players would lover from Peyton or Eli Manning, Conner completed 44 of his 58 pass attempts for 613 yards and seven touchdowns while also rushing for a score in a 77-46 win over Valhalla of El Cajon. All three single-game totals make the Cal-Hi Sports state record book with the yardage total going in at No. 3. Earlier this season, Folsom’s Jake Browning passed for 689 yards and 10 touchdowns in one game. White caught 11 passes for 166 yards and four scores while Collins caught 17 passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns. Manning’s total also broke the reported Orange County record for passing yards in a game which was set at 564 back in 1996 by Doug Baughman from Bolsa Grande of Garden Grove.
Darin Newman (Analy, Sebastopol)
We missed his even 300-yard, five-TD passing performance from two weeks ago in a big win over Santa Rosa. Analy also won last week to improve to 5-0 and is a team to watch in the NCS.
Rolo Olivares & Ben Kortus, St. Bernard’s (Eureka)
This pair led a Crusaders’ defense that smothered visiting Burney in a 51-0 blanking. Olivares had two fumble returns for scores and Kortus had 12 tackles, two blocked punts and a fumble recovery.
Jeffrey Prothro, James Logan (Union City)
The Colts’ signal caller accounted for five touchdowns for the second straight week, passing for three and rushing for two in a 54-5 trouncing of Berkeley.
Ondre Rudolph (Dublin)
The Gaels were dancing the Irish jig but no one did more dancing than Ondre because he was more than on, rushing 52 times for a whopping 341 yards and three touchdowns in a 29-21 win over Orinda Miramonte.
Adan Salas (Hueneme, Oxnard)
One of the state’s leading passers, this sophomore finally led the Vikings to their first victory of the season as he completed 27 of his 50 pass attempts for 336 yards and five touchdowns in a 35-27 win over Xavier Prep of Palm Desert.
Daviante Sayles (Rancho Buena Vista, Vista)
Following up his 51 carries for 339 yards from the week before, Sayles ran the ball 28 times for 239 yards and five touchdowns in a 43-27 win over Orange Glen of Escondido.
Mitch Sheppard (St. Vincent de Paul, Petaluma)
In a 51-7 triumph against Stellar Prep of Hayward, Sheppard connected on 13 of 19 passes for 259 yards and three TDs, rushed for a score and went 7-for-7 on PATs. Sheppard, who has thrown for at least one score in all 14 of his varsity starts, only passed the ball three times in the second half.
Andrew Sills (East Nicolaus, Nicolaus)
Averaging nearly 10 yards per carry, Sills ran for 235 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries in a 40-24 win over Stone Ridge Christian.
Matt Simko (Chino Hills)
This quarterback has been making noise ever since he passed for 378 yards when Chino Hills tied Bishop Amat of La Puente 48-48 one week after the Lancers beat Servite of Anaheim. Simko had another strong outing last week in a 41-20 triumph against Great Oak of Temecula. In leading the Huskies to their third win of the season, he completed 28 of 46 passes for 385 yards with three TDs and no interceptions.
T.J. Spykstra (Ontario Christian)
In leading Division IV South state-ranked Ontario Christian to its fifth win against no losses, Spykstra rushed 17 times for 252 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a touchdown catch and an interception.
Brett Stephens (Campolindo, Moraga)
The Cougars’ quarterback, who was also a member of the Oakland Athletics’ team last summer at the Area Code Baseball Games in Long Beach, completed 17 of 25 passes for 312 yards and had the game-winning touchdown on a quarterback sneak as time expired in a 40-39 win over Acalanes of Lafayette.
Jacob Taylor (Rim of the World, Lake Arrowhead)
Bishop had to feel like Taylor was trying to run around the world as he rushed for 360 yards and six touchdowns on 31 carries in a 62-19 win. Taylor, a senior, was one of the state’s top rushing leaders last year as a junior.
James Toland (Shadow Hills, Indio)
The state’s reported leading rusher has increased his rushing performance every week but it’s going to be hard to top this one next week as he ran for 490 yards and seven touchdowns on 25 carries in a 50-47 loss to Banning. Toland’s 490-yard total gets him into the state record book and is just shy of the 494 posted last week by Justin Ewing from Capuchino of San Bruno.
Michael Turner (Seaside)
The 6-foot-5, 205-senior quarterback and defensive back, who transferred with his brother Ronnie Turner from Salinas Alvarez this year, did something only three signal-callers in Monterey County have done in the past 29 years and the first in 10 years – and that’s lead a team to a win over Palma of Salinas. Turner did it on both sides of the ball to boot. He shredded the Palma defense for 303 yards and three TDs with two going to 6-foot-4, 185-pound junior Ronnie. For good measure, Michael intercepted a Palma pass at midfield that sealed the deal in a 25-15 victory
Jacob Valdez (El Diamante, Visalia)
El Diamante is known for running the football, but Valdez had a special night passing in a 49-31 come-from-behind win over previously unbeaten Mt. Whitney of Visalia. He established a new school record of 299 yards (14 of 20, no interceptions) and had three touchdowns.
Jojo Valencia (Independence, San Jose)
The senior running back rushed for 213 yards and three TDs in a 43-25 win over cross-town Branham of San Jose.
Jonathan Walters (Saratoga)
The junior quarterback passed for 346 yards and five TDs in a 48-7 win over Cupertino Monte Vista. It was Walters’ second-straight 300-yard, five-touchdown performance.
