Devante Doutrive (Birmingham, Lake Balboa) Jr.
Off to a hot start after transferring from arctic freeze of Alaska, this 6-foot-5 junior had at least 31 points in each of his first four games with a high of 35 points.
During an 87-85 overtime win over Mission Prep of San Luis Obispo last Thursday, he scored 34 points as the Patriots rallied from an 18-point deficit for the win at the Beverly Hills Tournament.
Originally from Anchorage, Doutrive spent eight years living in Texas before playing last season at West of Anchorage.

Girls Basketball Player of the Week
Kayla Overbeck (Newbury Park) Sr.
Coming up one steal shy of a triple-double, this Vanderbilt-bound senior forward scored 31 points, grabbed 32 rebounds and had nine steals during a 72-29 win over Moorpark at the Burroughs Tournament.
The 32 rebounds broke her own school record of 26 rebounds in a game that she set the day before in the same tournament while also scoring 17 points in a 40-23 win over Middle College of Los Angeles.
The Panthers would go on and capture the tournament championship with a 48-46 win over Hart of Newhall.

Isaiah Halsey (Liberty Ranch, Galt) Sr.
A sixth man from last season’s 27-6 team at Liberty Ranch, Halsey has emerged as a leading man this season. In fact, he’s already broken one school record set last year by graduated DeAndre Stallings, who was one of the top scorers in Northern California.
Halsey led the Hawks to last weekend’s Woodland Tournament championship with 93 points in three games, which is two more than Stallings had in a single tourney. The 5-foot-10 guard had 28 points and 12 rebounds against Napa, 31 points and six rebounds against Delta of Clarksburg and 34 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in the title game vs. Highlands of North Highlands.
With the wins, head coach Josh Williams’ squad also improved to 6-0 for the best start in school history. Halsey also is averaging 26.2 ppg.

Girls Basketball Player of the Week
Irene Covailu (Rosemont, Sacramento) Sr.
Since losing their first game of the season, the Wolverines and their talented point guard had won seven straight at the start of this week.
Covailu just missed a quadruple-double in Rosemont’s final win last week as she had 13 points, 13 assists, 10 steals and nine rebounds during a 74-37 win over Laguna Creek of Elk Grove.
Earlier in the week, she had 22, 29 and 24 points during wins over Center of Antelope, El Camino of Sacramento and Sheldon of Sacramento.
